What color should i paint my room?

i can't find a picture of my comforter but it is white and has big polka dots that are teal, hot pink, light pink, and orange. i have hardwood flooring. my room is small so i don't think bright colors would look very good. i do want something blue though. maybe a color a couple shades lighter then the teal? i have also seen some rooms that are a dark tan that look cool. would that look good with a white comforter though?
